Personal Statement Excerpt:
"Through completing an EPQ on the philosophical foundations of modern human rights, I was able to trace the endurance of the concept, from the ancient Greeks into the present day. While I found Burke's wariness of absolute rights in "Reflections on the Revolution in France" a relevant criticism, I was more convinced by Mill's arguments for respecting liberty where it caused no harm and entrenching this respect in law."
